Verhoeven was founded in 1957 by the Verhoeven brothers Theo and Tinus. Location: their father’s forge in Leende, the Netherlands. Their activities mainly comprised the service to undercarriages of old American bulldozers, which were used to rebuild the country in the years following World War II. The brothers gained quite a lot of expertise. They hauled in major assignments and expanded their specialities from undercarriages to the repairs and service to complete machines.
In 1965, they decided to part ways, and Tinus continued the company by himself. Overhaul and repair activities were in great demand. The company grew and hired many extra personnel. Quality and customer satisfaction continued to be the key words behind this exponential growth. Once again, Verhoeven decided to expand its activities further. Used bulldozers were bought up, done up, and sold again. In addition, the trade in undercarriage components was becoming an attractive activity as well.
In the early nineteen seventies, Verhoeven moved to the prominent location alongside the A2, at the Maarheezerweg in Leende. The machine trade was flourishing – not in the last place thanks to this new location – and Verhoeven started selling across the border as well. Many importerships were obtained during the nineteen seventies. During this growth, extra attention was paid to logistics and organisation.
This acquisition of dealerships and importerships continued into the nineteen eighties. Especially the dealership for Komatsu in the South of the Netherlands and the importership of Berco undercarriage components for the Benelux are worthy of note. Thanks to the presence on trade exhibitions throughout Europe, the knowledge of the company, as well as its international network, continued to grow. At that time, Verhoeven employed some 30 people and was developing into an international service and trade organisation. Tinus’ son Gerard was added to the company’s management team and a new subsidiary in Belgium was opened.
In the early nineteen nineties, a third subsidiary in Zeewolde was added, enabling Verhoeven to provide its products and services throughout the Benelux. In 1996, Verhoeven landed the Dutch importership of Takeuchi machines. An absolute milestone.
Verhoeven continued to grow and grow. Soon, the company’s head office had outgrown its premises in Leende. Another move was inevitable. This time, the present location in Maarheeze was chosen. In addition, the Takeuchi importership was expanded to cover the whole of the Benelux.
In just over fifty years, Verhoeven has grown into a leading player in the earth-moving branch and adjoining markets. Increasingly, business is done on an international scale. In 2007, Verhoeven opened its own production facility in India. Verhoeven has been growing for fifty years, and the end is not yet in sight…
